I’m a thinker and maker on a mission to unlock human potential through great human experiences
In my work as a researcher, designer, founder and educator, I’ve seen how the right products, experiences and environments can empower people and society. I’m on a mission to unlock this human potential.
My Mission
I’ve spent the last decade+ understanding and building great human experiences across digital and physical worlds.
I’ve helped leading tech companies like Shopify and Instagram take big bets and bring new products to life that help improve the lives of entrepreneurs and small businesses.
I’ve also co-founded Canada’s largest community woodshop, and helped bring CreativeMornings, the world’s largest face-to-face creative community to Ottawa.
I aspire to build great things that matter to people and improve their lives. I also try to bring these same values to the home and life I share with my wife, 2 kids and german shepherd
It’s my hope that they will see a brighter future if we invest in our greatest resources today: our people.
About Me
Thinking
Growing and accelerating businesses with Instagram
My time at Instagram has been spent shaping its role in the lives of small businesses around the world. Here, I support understanding complex problems at the intersection of social media, entrepreneurship, commerce and society.
Defining and launching industry-changing products with Shopify
At Shopify, I spent 6 years in lean and fast-paced environments aimed at radically changing the commerce and entrepreneurship landscape for businesses and consumers. Here I drove design, research, and strategy on scrappy experimental projects and billion dollar bets.
Kickstarting creative community building in the nation’s capital with Creative Mornings
Ottawa’s a government city with an unknown creative scene. Collaborating to bring Creative Mornings to Ottawa as the 26th chapter, and co-hosting it for a number of years, helped kick-off a new wave of creative community gatherings the like the city had never seen.
Making
Empowering city-dwellers to tap into creativity and build with their hands at Ottawa City Woodshop
Motivated to create an accessible, and inspiring space for urban residents to indulge in an often inaccessible hobby, we built Canada’s largest community woodshop - the Ottawa City Woodshop - in the shadows of the city’s long-forgotten history as a lumbertown.
Building an off-grid, climate resilient camp for high-intent pursuits and group experiences
What if there was a camp for adults and professionals looking to commit to greater depth and intentionality in their pursuits? After acquiring a 16 acre hill outside of Wakefield, this ongoing project and experiment seeks to create a curated experience for individuals and small groups to support them in their pursuits and reconnect to the human experience.
