Defining and launching industry changing products with Shopify aimed at disrupting conventional commerce, and simplifying the most complex aspects of starting and running a small business.

As a strong believer in the power of entrepreneurship (and an entrepreneur myself), it was a no-brainer to join the company for entrepreneurs - Shopify.

Here we worked on solving entrepreneurship’s biggest problems. For 6 years I was exposed to some of the industry’s best and brightest, and contributed to building some of the most ambitious design teams, and product bets in the world of e-commerce.

I led research and user experience on some of the company’s riskiest bets and honed my craft in learning how to quickly test and experiment with new product ideas and opportunities to find product-market-fit. My efforts focused on efficient design processes integrated effectively within rapid product development by ensuring RnD teams are finely tuned to user needs.

Role

User Experience Leadership and Management

What I did

  • Led the initial multi-disciplinary UX team in defining and building Shopify’s billion dollar bet on bringing a brand new product to life - its fulfillment service for entrepreneurs.

  • Developed new processes and ways of working for resourceful research, design and product development.

  • Led research for Shopify’s experimental ‘Garage’ where we quickly identified new product opportunities and built experimental products aimed at quickly finding product-market-fit through prototyping and experimenting.

  • Brought service design thinking to teams by leading efforts to optimize internal processes and team structure to result in improved service delivery and experience to users.
